Hardy Perennial
Description: Unusual contrasting purple and cream yellow flowers on compact tidy plants. Ideal for containers and pots. Sowing Instructions: Sow from May to July for flowering plants in June the following year or sow in January for a late flowering crop in July/August. Using a 576 plug tray or slightly larger sized unit, sow on to the surface of a moist well drained seed sowing compost lightly cover the seed with vermiculite and propagate at 15 to 18c. Temperatures higher than 20c will start to reduce the rate of germination considerably. Germination should take place after 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks. Growing Instructions: As the seedlings develop grow them on as cool as possible for the summer sowings and shade from direct sunlight to avoid any scorching. January sowings will need to be kept at 10c. As the seedlings develop pot on into 9cm pots for over wintering in a cold glasshouse tunnel or cold frame. The plants can then be potted on to larger pots in spring if required. With the January sown plants transfer the plugs three to a 1 litre pot and grow on as near to 10c as possible. Shade slightly going into summer and the plants should be saleable in July-August. |
